Verification starts with the advisory's affected and fixed package information. Administrators identify the relevant runtime, inspect the installed build and check whether a restart, container redeployment or other activation step is required.
A command returning a newer version is not always sufficient. It might inspect a CLI binary instead of web-serving PHP, miss a vendor backport or check the host rather than the live container. A successful package installation can also leave old workers running.
Good verification includes service health as well as security status. Check logs, application responses and the actual deployment target. Where the vendor provides a safe specific verification method, follow it rather than inventing an exploit test against a production service.
Keep a short evidence trail: vulnerability identifier, vendor advisory, exact installed package, runtime being checked, activation step and timestamp. Recheck after rollbacks or image redeployments.
