An AI add-on is an extra software package or paid entitlement that enables model-assisted features inside a broader product. Examples include drafting emails, summarizing meetings, searching documents in natural language or suggesting sales follow-ups.
Providers may charge for it per licensed user, by requests or tokens, through prepaid credits or as part of a higher subscription tier. Some features also require a particular base plan or administrator configuration.
Marketing descriptions do not guarantee that the add-on works with every data source, language or permission model. Sensitive customer information may pass through additional processing services, so retention policies, data residency and contractual protections need checking.
Test the feature on real tasks, including incorrect or incomplete inputs. Compare the value of time saved with license charges, verification work and security requirements; do not assume that buying the add-on automatically delivers a productivity gain.
